"For me, exploring the world is a very physical, sensory, and intellectual adventure."

Csilla Csekő, PhD

Health & Lifestyle Consultant and Therapist, Literature Therapist, Family Therapist, Autism Consultant, PhD in Psychology

Being a therapist is primarily about relationship, reciprocity, dialogue, and creating a multitude of interpretations where we don't look for perfection together, but for what is attainable, lived, forward-moving, and healing.

Therapeutic Approach

#discursive

#cultural

#neuroaffirmative

#lgbtq-friendly

My therapeutic perspective is defined by the principles and values of discursive psychology and collaborative therapy. The discursive, collaborative psychological approach is affirmative, supportive, and solution-oriented, accepting the client's experiences as valid while keeping in mind the social and cultural contexts, institutional systems around us, and norms in which they arise. In this way, it is sensitive to intercultural and minority experiences and the impact of social reality on one's life path, which makes it particularly suitable for supporting clients who belong to minority groups or non-dominant cultures (such as women, LGBTQ+, neurodivergent individuals, and people living with disabilities). Therapy is a relational space where differing experiences meet, and support for clients manifests in the creation of shared interpretations and the promotion of change. To this end, I strive to establish and maintain a mutually open, curious, respectful, and transparent therapeutic relationship, in which clients can freely develop new coping mechanisms and life management strategies by interpreting and reinterpreting their daily life experiences, as well as their bodily, visual, emotional, and linguistic experiences.

"To truly help someone, I must understand more than they do – but first and foremost, I must understand how they understand things. If I do not understand this, then it does not help them at all that I know more." (Søren Kierkegaard, translated by Anna Csekő-Szél)

Anna Csekő-Szél, MD, PhD

Psychiatrist Resident, Therapist, and Mentor

As a physician, researcher, and therapist, I find it essential that those who come to me receive up-to-date professional knowledge paired with a non-judgmental human presence. During our collaboration, we strive to understand the connections between past experiences, current difficulties, and bodily-emotional reactions. I believe that healing is a process where a safe, accepting space and mutual trust create the opportunity for everyone to discover their own resources and new ways of self-connection at their own pace.

Therapeutic Approach

#trauma-informed

My therapeutic approach is rooted in integrative, systematic thinking. I view the individual as someone who always exists and is shaped within relationships. For me, the therapeutic space is a safe, supportive environment where the opportunity for genuine presence arises. It is important for my clients to experience that they do not have to "function well" here; it is enough to simply be themselves. I believe that change is born within relationships. In my work, I am guided by curiosity and acceptance. I strive to accompany processes gently yet honestly. In my therapies, great emphasis is placed on exploring inner experiences and emotional patterns. I do not rush change; instead, I provide space for it to unfold at its own pace. The involvement of sensoriality and bodily experiences is of paramount importance to me. The embodiment approach helps understanding to be not only cognitive but also to live in our experiences. I often work with the body: sensations, tensions, and movements. I believe the body is an important gateway to emotions and a deeper connection to self, a perspective inspired by the work of Peter Levine, Janina Fisher, Bessel van der Kolk, and Gabor Maté, among others. I always tailor the collaborative work to the specific person or system. I take individual history, current life situations, and the relational and social context into account. For me, authenticity and self-reflection are fundamental professional values. My goal is not only to reduce difficulties but also to support a deeper understanding of the self. I view therapy as a shared, living process in which we move forward together.

My online counseling service is not clinical psychotherapy and is not a substitute for medical or psychiatric treatment. Despite my medical degree, I do not act as a healthcare provider during this service. These consultations are not part of the healthcare system and do not qualify as medical treatment. I do not provide diagnoses, nor do I perform treatment in a medical or psychotherapeutic sense. The online processes I lead are not a replacement for psychiatric care, clinical psychotherapy, or psychodiagnostics. You can find more information about the framework of our service on the Information page.
