The following questions and answers help provide an overview of contact, cooperation frameworks, the shared workflow, and the ethical and data protection principles that form the basis of the our collaboration with our clients. It is worth reading through them before applying so that you have sufficient information about the conditions and process of the shared work.
How does the process of closure or termination take place?
The closure or termination does not happen suddenly, but in a planned way over several sessions: we review where we started, what we achieved, and what else is needed. The process of closure can help the client(s) to integrate the changes, experiences, understandings and interpretations gained during the process.
What can I expect in the working phase?
Although the introductory, goal-setting stage can also bring many changes, the deep, detailed work takes place in the working phase: during regular meetings, we work together on the brought topic or topics, evaluate the changes achieved and refining the goals from time to time.
What kind of contract would define the frameworks of our cooperation?
If we decide to work together, we record the framework of the process in a written contract: the goals, the frequency and length of the sessions, whether the consultations take place online or inperson, as well as the fees, and the cancellation conditions.
How does the consultation process take place?
The consultation process consists of several stages. The first 1–3 sessions are about getting to know each other, establishing cooperation, and setting goals. This is followed by the conclusion of a written contract, then a longer working phase, and finally the shared closure and – if needed – later follow-up checking.
How does the contact-making take place?
Contact is made by e-mail or through the contact form. Please describe as precisely as possible what you need help with and from whom, so our team can provide feedback by e-mail, and you will jointly agree on a first, introductory appointment.
Responsibility and obligation of the client
The client's responsibility is to comply with the consultation frameworks defined in and to participate in the consultation sessions. It is expected that they respect the agreed apopintments, frameworks, and jointly developed rules, and that they are present at the sessions, honestly indicate their feelings and needs there, and provide feedback. It is also the client's responsibility to ensure that the information provided to our staff - whether it relates to their state of health, diagnoses, comorbidities, as well as drug or medicine consumption - is accurate and valid.
What is supervision and why might it be needed?
In any consultation process, there may be situations where the involvement of external experts becomes necessary. The purpose of case discussions with supervisors is for our staff to receive professional guidance from other professionals trained for this. These supervision sessions support professionality and quality for the processes. The supervision is in the common interest of our staff and clients. The rules of confidentiality and data management also apply to supervision, and the anonymity of clients is preserved durring supervision sessions.
What is interprofessional cooperation / intervision and when might it be needed?
A situation may arise when the most appropriate help for the client is the joint, simultaneous support of several helpers working with different methods and having different competencies. In these cases, the professionals conducting continuous consultation with other professionals, supporting each other's work in order to help the client in the best possible way. The rules of confidentiality and private policy about data security apply to all involved professionals.
What do confidentiality and data protection mean?
All personal information and shared events and stories heard in the consultations are confidential. Only a few situations defined by the law can mean an exception (e.g., in case of severe, direct danger to anyone's life), about which we provide information at the beginning of the process. We handle the data protected, in accordance with the law.
What does it mean that the consultations take place according to the valid ethical and data protection professional recommendations?
During our work, we follow the relevant professional ethical consicerations and the current data protection regulations. This applies to the initial contakt, the sessions themselves, the documentation, and the handling of our clients data as well, so that the process is safe and transparent.
What happens after the closure?
Even after the closure of the consultation process, there is a possibility for occasional, or re-etablishing contact with need for further help, if new questions or difficulties arise in a later life, where the client feels that they require professional help from us.
The responsibility and obligation of our staff
The responsibility of our staff, as helpers, is to provide a safe, accepting, and supportive space for the client, which also includes the neuroaffirmative and LGBTQ affirmative perspective. Their obligation is also the consistent compliance with professional guidelines, rules, and frameworks, as well as to support the client based on their best knowledge and valid professional information, to continuously update their knowledge, and to transparently fulfill what is undertaken in the personalized contract.
In what can we provide support?
During the shared work, we can provide help in the following life situations and difficulties:
- relational, partnership, and family difficulties,
- lifestyle issues
- stress and burnout
- self- knowledge questions
- processing of crises
- communication difficulties
- difficulties and coping in neurodiversity
In what cases or situations we cannot enter into a cooperation?
None of the services available at Connection Consultations constitute clinical psychological, psychiatric, or psychotherapeutic care. It does not replace psychiatric care, clinical psychotherapy, or psychodiagnostics; it does not qualify as health care.
Our consultations are not suitable for treating acute or severe psychiatric conditions, for example:
- severe depression or anxiety, mood disorders,
- active suicidal thoughts/ideations,
- psychotic states,
- or addictological crises.
We do not undertake medical prescriptions; in case of noticing anything above during our consultation, or if we believe that our client(s) medication can be required, we direct our client(s) to the appropriate specialist care.
